Last year’s DJI product release cycle was quite eventful, with a slew of industry-defining products joining the fray. In terms of gimbals, the DJI RS 3 Pro and RS 3 gimbals were introduced. The company also recently released a teaser indicating the arrival of a mini version of the RS 3 gimbal. The DJI RS 3 Mini has indeed been released for the global market.
The newly designed dual layer quick-release plate makes mounting cameras relatively simple. Vertical shooting is also possible if the plate is attached to a vertical arm, and there are no rotation angle restrictions in that mode. The sliding mechanism is the same as on the RS3.
The load capacity of the RS 3 Mini gimbal is 0.4-2.0 kg. It is supported by mainstream full-frame and APS-C mirrorless camera models. On the highest setting, it can be outfitted with a Sony A7S3+24-70mm F2.8 GM lens. To keep it steady, the zoom lens can still be used at its maximum focal length.
For the first time, the RS Mini 3 supports native vertical shooting to meet the needs of short video shooters. To switch to vertical shooting, simply instal the standard quick-release plate on the gimbal’s vertical arm, and the gimbal’s rotation angle is unrestricted.
The 1.4-inch full-color touchscreen controls all functions, including changing shooting modes and balancing the gimbal motors. You can also use the app to do a lot of this, as well as set functions like Timelapse, Track recording (move along up to 10 preset points), and Panorama. Finally, with the integrated battery handle, it can run for up to 10 hours on a single charge and can be fully charged in as little as 2.5 hours with a 10W charger.
