Lancool 216 Case

Lian Li Lancool 216 Case Review – ATX with External Fan

LANCOOL 216 is a mid-range case with all-round mesh panels for proper ventilation. Its modular rear panel allows it to be optimized for air or water cooling. It comes with two pre-installed PWM fans (two 160mm and one 140mm) and an innovative rear PCIe fan bracket to increase airflow.

See Kitguru’s review; Their thermal test reduced the GPU temperature by 6 degrees using only the external fans and 7 degrees using only the bottom fans. Combined outer and bottom fans cool 8 degrees.

As with SFF builds, I believe GPU orientation and proximity to the bottom fans will have a significant impact on the results. You might be better off with just the external fan, because of the extra noise from below.

The LANCOOL 216 has mesh on the front, top and side of the PSU shroud to ensure adequate airflow to the system. The front mesh extends to the top, creating a continuous mesh panel.

The included 160mm ARGB fans have two LED channels (one on the outer edge of the fan and one at the shaft of the fan blades) that can be controlled separately via an optional accessory or by connecting directly to the motherboard via the motherboard lighting software. 5V 3pin header.

A SATA-based fan hub, located in a second chamber behind the motherboard, can support up to four ARGB and PWM fans. A modular Motherboard allows users to relocate the I/O motherboard to a higher, more convenient location.

The motherboard is set to the bottom, leaving a 63mm thick gap at the top to install radiator/fan combos, ideal for AIOs or custom water cooling.

The front I/O module, which houses the power button, reset button, audio port, 2x USB3.0 ports and a USB Type C port, is relocated to the lower left side of the front panel.

LANCOOL 216 supports ATX, Micro-ATX, MINI-ITX and E-ATX motherboards less than 280mm wide (when the grommet bar is rotated 180°). Furthermore, due to its symmetrical design, cable management in the second room is not affected.

LANCOOL 216 is compatible with even the largest NVIDIA 4000 series cards, with enough space for graphics cards up to 392mm in length and 180mm in height (for air cooling mode).
