Microsoft is ready to deliver another major update to Windows 11 users, as the company just promoted a slew of new features to the Windows Insider program’s Release Preview ring. Windows 11 build 22621.1343, currently available as update 22621.1343, includes new features such as Quick Help settings in the taskbar and Windows Studio effects integration.
Windows Central has discovered that in recent Windows 11 Insider builds, there are feature IDs indicating snapping instructions, indicating that Microsoft is ready to test some of the new features with beta testers.
These features were previously tested as part of the Dev and Beta channels of the Windows Insider program, and bringing them to the release preview ring means Microsoft is ready to release them to production devices as well.
“This update provides direct access to quick settings in the taskbar for devices with a neural processing unit (NPU) that supports Windows Studio effects. It made it quick and easy to turn on and configure camera effects. These effects include background blur, eye contact, automatic framing and audio effects (voice focus). You can still access these effects in the Settings page,” explains Microsoft.
Another major feature included in this update is the improved search experience in the taskbar. Microsoft is trying several approaches in the Dev channel and is now extending the rollout to production devices as well. The update also includes accessibility improvements, a tablet-optimized taskbar, and energy recommendations in the Settings app.
Microsoft is also reported to be toying with the idea of Snap layouts that dynamically adjust depending on the app in the foreground. The app in focus takes over the prominence, but the rest of the layout automatically adjusts to fit your display.
